Food and water testing in Kolkata, with reports you can hand to an inspector

Drinking water against IS 10500, packaged water against IS 14543, effluent against CPCB norms, food microbiology, shelf life and FSSAI label panels — every parameter reported with its method, its permissible limit and the observed value.

We sell no equipment
No RO systems, no chemicals. A failed parameter earns us nothing.

Not sure which test you need?

Tell us who you are. We will point you at the right standard.

Still unsure? Send an enquiry or call us — describe the sample and why you are testing it.

A housing society or apartment complex
Recommended
Full IS 10500 panel on reservoir, overhead tank and a flat tap
Testing several points is what tells the committee where the problem enters the system, not just that it exists.
See IS 10500 parameters
A restaurant, cloud kitchen or caterer
Recommended
Drinking water panel, ice, surface swabs and one or two ready-to-eat items
This is the smallest set of reports that satisfies most FSSAI inspections and aggregator hygiene checks.
See microbiology panel
A packaged water plant or RO unit
Recommended
Full IS 14543 panel on sealed retail packs, plus source water
Renewals are usually queried on scope, not chemistry — IS 10500 reports get rejected for packaged water.
See IS 14543 requirements
A packaged food manufacturer
Recommended
Finished product microbiology plus the nutritional label panel
One covers the licence file, the other substantiates what you print on the pack. Most manufacturers need both.
See label parameters
An industrial unit or ETP operator
Recommended
Effluent panel — pH, BOD, COD, TSS, oil and grease, plus your process metals
Your consent letter sets the limits and the route of discharge changes them, so scope follows the letter.
See discharge limits
An exporter who needs a COA
Recommended
The parameters named in your buyer contract, scoped to the stricter limit
Destination limits are often tighter than Indian ones, and the consignment must clear both.
See contaminant screening
A household
Recommended
Coliform and E. coli, plus pH, TDS, hardness and iron
The cheap panel that answers "is it safe to drink" — add arsenic if your borewell is in an affected district.

The problem you are probably trying to solve

Most people who call us are not shopping for a laboratory. They have a deadline, an inspection, a complaint or a renewal.

Housing society

Residents say the tank water smells and nobody can prove what is wrong

A full IS 10500 panel on tank and tap water names the parameter that failed, so the committee can act instead of argue.

How pricing and turnaround actually work

We quote per parameter, not per sample, so you only pay for what is tested. Rather than publish a price list that goes stale, here is the logic behind every quote — ask for the itemised version and you will get it in writing before anything is collected.

Priced per parameter
A single parameter is inexpensive. A full IS 10500 panel with heavy metals costs considerably more, because it is many separate determinations on one sample.
Panels cost less than the sum
Parameters that share a preparation step are cheaper together than ordered individually. Ask for the panel price, not a list of singles.
Turnaround is set by biology
Chemical work moves at the speed of the laboratory. Microbiological work needs incubation that cannot be shortened — usually 24 to 48 hours before a result can even be read.
Pickup and bottles
Sterile bottles are free. Pickup within Kolkata and Howrah is quoted with the test rather than added afterwards.

How a test works, start to finish

Turnaround starts the day the sample reaches the laboratory, not the day you call.

  1. Tell us the sample and the reason
Enquiry form, phone or WhatsApp. The reason matters more than the sample — it decides the standard.
  2. Get the parameter list and price in writing
Parameters, quantity needed, container type, turnaround and cost, before anything is collected.
  3. Sample reaches the laboratory
Drop at Room 313 or we pick up. Bacteriological samples need sterile bottles and a cold chain within 24 hours.
  4. Signed report by email and hard copy
Each parameter with its method, limit and result, signed by the reviewing analyst.

Questions we are asked before every first order

How long does a water test take?

A chemical panel is typically a few working days. Bacteriological results need incubation time that cannot be shortened — a coliform confirmation runs 24 to 48 hours before it can be read. We confirm the exact turnaround in the quote, counted from the day the sample reaches the laboratory.

Do you collect the sample or do I send it?

Either. We arrange pickup across Kolkata, Howrah, Salt Lake and New Town, or you can drop the sample at Room 313, Saltee Plaza. For bacteriological testing you must use a sterile bottle — we supply them free before collection, because a sample in a rinsed mineral water bottle cannot give a valid result.

Is the report accepted by FSSAI or the pollution board?

Some submissions require a report from an accredited laboratory. Tell us at enquiry stage who the report is going to and we will tell you plainly whether ours meets that requirement or whether you need an accredited laboratory. We would rather say no than sell you a report you cannot use.

What does a test cost?

Price depends on the number of parameters, not the sample. Send the sample type and the reason for testing and you get an itemised quote, usually within one working day. The pricing logic above explains how the number is built.

Can you tell me what to do about a failed result?

We can explain what the number means and which parameter is out of range. We do not sell treatment equipment or chemicals, so we have no interest in the outcome — for a remedy, take the report to a treatment vendor or consultant. That separation is deliberate.

Can I see a report before I order?

Yes. The sample report page shows the exact format field by field, including the method column and the named signatory, so you can compare it against any other quote you are holding.

Tell us what you need tested

Describe the sample and the reason for testing. You get the parameter list, the sample quantity, the turnaround and the price — usually within one working day.
